Janus Event Management

I was briefed to deliver a scalable Event Management platform that would allow the client to independently create, manage and grow their events programme without ongoing agency reliance. After evaluating existing third-party solutions, we identified clear limitations around flexibility, cost and long-term scalability. In response, I led the creation of a bespoke event platform and CMS built using Google Apps.

Initially launched in the UK, the platform’s success enabled rapid international expansion, supporting events across Italy, Germany, France and Spain — all managed through a single, centralised CMS.

Multiple Event CMS

The platform was designed to reduce operational overhead, streamline event delivery and support international growth without proportional increases in cost or complexity. A unified CMS allowed regional teams to operate autonomously while maintaining consistency, governance and reporting at a global level.

Core functionality included event creation, registration, attendee check-in and performance reporting. As the business matured, the platform evolved to include an interactive ‘event mode’, enabling real-time audience participation, live presentations and instant feedback — increasing engagement, data capture and overall event effectiveness.

Live Presentations

Live presentations were made available to attendees in real time, removing the need for printed materials or delayed content distribution. Presentations could be launched instantly by speakers and accessed on any device, ensuring all attendees were aligned to the same information at the same time. This reduced logistical overhead while improving clarity, consistency and audience focus during sessions.

Ask the Speaker

The platform introduced an “Ask the Speaker” function, allowing attendees to submit questions live during presentations. Questions were moderated and surfaced to speakers in real time, creating a more dynamic and inclusive experience without disrupting the flow of the session. This increased audience participation, improved session relevance and provided speakers with immediate insight into attendee priorities and understanding.

By combining live presentations with interactive questioning, the platform transformed traditionally passive sessions into two-way experiences. Attendee interaction and feedback were captured as structured data, giving organisers valuable insight into content performance, speaker effectiveness and audience sentiment — informing future event planning and content strategy.
